Carlos Martinez writes well, and among other things, he writes: ... Humanity faces serious existential threats in the form of climate breakdown, pandemics, antimicrobial resistance, and the possibility of nuclear war....

Dr. Yan Xuetong of Tsinghua University disagrees on the fourth point, at least when it comes to a nuclear war between the major powers.

On the third point, we may all agree to a substantial degree.

But we can provide exemplary evidence against the first and second point.

Now, the reader is bound to react with laughter, and say: Those are truths agreed by myriad of scientific institutions around the world. The basis of science is in verification of claims. How can they all be wrong? What's this flat-earth theorising?

Well, ... ....

a) There was a civilization that for thousands of years considered that the Earth is flat

b) The answer to the question "how" becomes clear as one reads the counter-arguments

The tobacco industry and the arms lobby have also paid so-called scientists for years to deny the dangers.

I googeld thescientists you name

Bjorn Lomborg

He was the international face of the climate skeptics, but the Dane Bjorn Lomborg is now calling for a hundred billion dollars in measures. Per year.

Wikipedia: The New York Times criticized his book False Alarm, stating "This book proves the aphorism that a little knowledge is dangerous. It's nominally about air pollution. It's really about mind pollution." The review was conducted by Nobel laureate.
