It should be seen as an exciting signal! The 2024 first article Xi Jinping published on "Qiu Shi" magazine, which is CPC's theoretical wind vane, is "Comprehensively promote China's modernization with harmonious coexistence between man and nature through construction of Beautiful China."
Qiu Shi is run by the CPC central committee. It published articles that demonstrating policies and guiding the direction of the party. So we can see through this 2024 first article that Xi and the CPC central committee are focusing on the ecological civilization construction.
The article listed several actions that China is going to take:
First, continuing to fight hard in the battle against pollution.
Second, accelerating the green and low-carbon transformation of development methods.
Third, efforts should be made to improve the diversity, stability, and sustainability of ecosystems.
Fourth, actively and steadily promoting carbon peak and carbon neutrality.
Fifth, keep the bottom line of safety in building a beautiful China.
Sixth, improve the guarantee system for building a beautiful China.
At the beginning of a new year, I am so happy to share this good news with you, who care about the ecological future of our Mother Earth. Happy New Year! BTW, I went to West Africa recently. What I saw reminds me China in 1980s. I am worried that Africa will take the high pollution development methods that happened in China from 1980s to the first 10 years in the 21st century. Maybe we could discuss it later. And welcome your comments.
Could you explain what actions 5 and 6, about building a beautiful China, mean?
You're worried that Africa will take the high pollution development methods that happened in China from 1980s to the first 10 years in the 21st century?
We should be so lucky! Though China developed four times faster, has better infrastructure and and manufactures as much as the combined West, its per capita emissions remain below Europe's and half America's level.
In any case, China will install renewables in Africa now that its pre-agreed contracts for coal plants are almost all fulfilled. It also plans to install 1100MW high temperature gas-cooled nuclear reactors in place of coal furnaces.
